Group Head of Digital
Giacomo Silvestri serves as Group Head of Digital for Eni, responsible to shape, drive and accelerate company digital transformation. On top of digital projects agenda, he is responsible for Eni open innovation activities and Eni Digital Factory where sits data scientists, scrum and experience design team.
Prior to joining Eni, Giacomo was Global Head of Organization, Strategic Workforce Planning & Change Management in Generali Insurance Group, and formerly Principal at the Boston Consulting Group.
VP Digital Ventures, Global Exploration
Gabriel Guerra, currently is the leader of Shell’s Exploration transformation journey, integrating the introduction of new business practices and ways of working to an established technology, digital and data strategy; providing the platform for lasting and enhanced exploration performance. Gabriel is a geologist by background and brings a breadth of experience and energy, after 18 years in various exploration positions with Enterprise Oil and Shell. He also has been involved from the start in shaping and leading exploration digitalisation and is deeply involved in leading the digital agenda for Shell. Gabriel is based in London but hails from Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, and is married with two kids.
Technical Services Department Manager
In August 2019, Maan was appointed as the Manager of Technical Services Department (TSD) of Saudi Aramco’s subsidiary in Europe, Aramco Overseas Company BV (AOC), headquartered in The Hague, The Netherlands. TSD Manager is responsible about the Quality Management Division, Engineering & Technology unit, satellite Research & Development Centers for Upstream and Downstream business lines located in Delft, Paris & Aberdeen in addition to his role as Project Management Team Regional Director covering all Aramco projects in Europe, Africa, Middle East and part of Asia.
Maan graduated from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KSA) in 2001 with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
Maan started his career at Aramco as Process Engineer in Berri Gas Plant, the 1st gas plant in Saudi Aramco. Thereafter, he joined Shaybah NGL Program where he acted as Project Engineer & Operation Rep working with the engineering contractor’s offices in the UK & South Korea. Later, he joined Facilities Planning Department for five years where he led several capital program and projects for the company and acted as Budget Director and Division Coordinator. On the last two years prior to joining AOC, he was the Energy System Division Head part of Process & Control System Department within Engineering Services.
Head of E&P Digital
Ramy has been in the Energy Industry for the past 23 years. Starting with a major Service Provider in the Middle East, Ramy managed lab and field operations in Kuwait, Saudi and Iraq. For the next 14 years, Ramy was relocated to various roles globally, including; Corporate R&D (Houston), SE Asia Offshore Operations (Bangkok), Area Business Development (Dubai) and Regional Management (Tunisia). For the past 9 years, Ramy has been based in Madrid, Spain – assisting Repsol in various roles, most recently, by spearheading all global Digital Initiatives and steering the “eHSE” (Health, Safety & Environment) Portfolio for the E&P/Upstream Division.
Digital Strategist – Operations & Asset Development
Prashant Soni has over 12 years of experience in Oil and Gas sector covering both technical and commercial aspect among other business strategy development and key customer management. He has a Master of Technology degree in ‘Offshore Technology’ along with a PhD in ‘Hydrodynamics of Slender structures’. He has held several management positions in the past and at present contributing to the digital transformation by developing a digitally focused business strategy for the ‘future of operations’. Thereby assisting in accelerating digitalization & innovation efforts at Aker BP.
Dr. Subrata Bhowmik
Principal Engineer –Subsea Digital & Automation
Dr Subrata Bhowmik has a MS and PhD from ETH Zurich and the Technical University of Denmark in Control Systems and Artificial Intelligence respectively. He has more than 15 years of design and development experience in energy industry . Subrata is also a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of IMarEST. He has contributed extensively in Asset Integrity Management, Asset Life Extension, Digital Twin, Offshore and Subsea Structure Health Monitoring and Offshore and Subsea Predictive Maintenance Strategy for various projects. He is currently working as a Principal Engineer-Subsea Digital & Automation in McDermott London office.
Group Technical Authority
Sharul is PETRONAS Group Technical Authority & Custodian Engineer, Instrument & Control. He is a Steering Committee member for JIP33 (IOGP), Co-Chair Certification Working Group (OPAF), Vice-Chair Instrument Automation Standards Steering Committee and Vice-Chair ISAGCA (ISA Global Cybersecurity Alliance) and Steering Group of IEC OF2 for Smart Manufacturing . He has been recently elected as President, ISA Malaysia starting 1st August 2021.
Sharul is an “Expert” ISA IEC 62443 Certification in Cybersecurity. He has more than 30 years of experience in instrumentation & control for oil & gas, gas liquefaction, and petrochemical plants including pipeline transmission network. He advises not only within his Group Technical Solution but also plant Petronas-wide on instrument & control
Chief Digital Officer
Roy has worked in the oil industry since 1979. With more than 20 years at Equinor and 2 years in Baker Hughes. He started in Petoro in 2002, where he was VP of Technology for many years. Taking on the role of CDO in 2019 Roy has been instrumental in driving fast and broad implementation of new work processes both in Petoro and the wider industry.
Harald Wesenberg is an IT specialist specializing in software innovation with more than 20 years of experience working at the Equinor Research Centre in Trondheim, Norway. His current focus is on the utilization of blockchain technologies in the oil and gas industry, where he has been the technical lead for Equinors blockchain efforts for the past three years. Prior to his current role as a software innovator, he worked for more than 8 years as an advisor to the Statoil CIO on enterprise architecture methods and practices. His primary interests are in using digitalization to enable new business models and explore new business and technical opportunities. He is a regular speaker at conferences and workshops both domestically and internationally and has published several scientific papers of his prior research.
Product Manager, Enterprise Machine Learning Platforms, Equinor ASA
Abul leads and manages Equinor’s AI/ML-enabled enterprise data analytics platform. Currently, he is the product manager for “ideation machine”, a citizen data scientist software suite, scaled across Equinor subsurface value chain.
Abul has professional experiences with major international energy companies including Royal Dutch Shell and most recently with Equinor. Previous leadership positions include experiences within offshore oil and gas fields’ operation technology, geophysical specialist teams and subsurface R&D department.
Before joining the energy industry, Abul worked as a software developer within high-performance scientific computing in Germany. Abul holds a PhD degree in Computational Mathematics from the University of Bergen, Norway and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from BI Norwegian Business School and University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business in the USA, with a specialization in digital transformation
Chief Innovation & Digitalization Officer
Jaco is Chief Innovation at OMV Petrom, where he is driving the change towards a more innovative and digitally dexterous company with a healthy portfolio of new business options. He does so by sponsoring a portfolio of proof of concepts to kick start innovations, building a digital academy to develop skills, forging collaborations with external partners, and leading a cross divisional innovation council to drive alignment and implementation throughout the company.
In his four years at Shell, he helped their transition to a more Open Innovation approach. He re-invigorated initiatives like GameChanger and External Technology Collaborations, and set up internal tribes and learning programs to drive culture change. He built Shell TechWorks, an innovative outfit that maximizes the use of external technologies in a ‘skunkworks’ approach.
Jaco also spent 23 years with Royal DSM in progressive business leadership roles across four different industries, including VP Business Incubator and Director of the China Innovation Centre.
Asset Artificial Intelligence Business Opportunity Manager
Marijn Bezuijen currently leads the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence products for Shell’s assets around the world as Business Opportunity Manager. After an initial career in Capital Project Management at Shell, Marijn has previously led the Digitalization efforts at Europe’s largest refinery, Shell Pernis, located in the Port of Rotterdam. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Physics from Delft University of Technology.
Senior Digital Program Manager
Julian Zec has 20 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, upstream, midstream and downstream sectors. For the last decade, he was focusing on automation and digitalization of maintenance, reliability and asset management. During the time he was developing strategy, managed and developed analytics, machine learning and artificial intelligence methods, processes and certification requirements holding the position as OEM, drilling contractor or frontal point to the ISO and class societies. Currently, he holds the position of Senior Digital Program Manager at Maersk Drilling and Research fellow at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences in Bergen.
